Department of Electronics Engineering

Introduction

Electronics Engineering is an amazingly broad and rapidly progressing field. It has been and will be the essential core that enables the information and technology revolution of the contemporary society. Any modern engineering system without electronic parts or subsystems can hardly be found. Some examples of the important subjects are: semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, microprocessors, embedded computer systems, autonomous robots, automatic control systems, speech and image signal processing, wireless communications, optical communications, and radar systems.

The Department of Electronics Engineering is recognized as one of top electronics engineering departments in nationwide surveys due to its excellence both in undergraduate/graduate education programs and in research activities. Its distinguished faculty members do their best in teaching and research to produce talented graduates who not only can do their missions right away after graduation but also can remain competent in the future of ever-evolving technology.

Provision of the outstanding educational environments is a top priority among our concerns. Curriculum is periodically and timely updated to reflect the latest advances in the technology. Laboratories are well equipped with rich and finest instruments and computers to fully support experimental courses. Modern pedagogical methods and instruments are consistently employed to enhance the educational effectiveness.

Particular emphasis is put on the comprehensive understanding of the basic concepts and applications to practical problems with innovative ideas.

The department also offers M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs for the students who would pursue more advanced and in-depth study in specific areas of his/her choice. Most of the graduate students are involved in industrial projects to get hands-on experience on real-world problems.

Faculty members in the department, together with their graduate students, are also very active in conducting researches. The significant portion of their research is being conducted in close connection with industries and research institutes in nearby Daedeok Science Town. The high activity and quality of our research is attested by the annual research fund of more than 400 million Won and consistent publications of the results in prestigious international journals and conferences.
