Microfluidic synthesis for complex shaped microfiber

  • Droplet-based microfuidic method combined with in situ photopolymerization produces highly monodisperse organic microparticles of P(DDMA-co-TPM) in a simple manner, and the silica nanoparticles gradually grow on the surface of the microparticles prepared via hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) in a basic ammonium hydroxide medium without additional surface treatment. Self-bending soft hydrogels
Microfluidic synthesis for complex shaped microfiber

  • We investigate soft microstructures of a hydrogel bilayer, which is used as a model system to represent a reversible stimuliresponsive actuator. Uniform bilayer microstructures are prepared using a simple micromolding technique without the need for complex facilities. Highly flexible polymeric hydrogels are selected as both responsive and passive layers, in order to maintain tight binding between the two layers without delamination. The bilayer microstructure enables a reversible transformation from twodimensional sheets to bent three-dimensional structures with predetermined curvatures. [Link]

Anisotropic microparticles by micromold swelling techniques
Microfluidic synthesis for complex shaped microfiber

  • We report the controlled fabrication of microparticles with complex 3D shapes based on the simple tuning of mold swelling and capillarity. Specifically, a photocurable solution loaded in micromolds is spatially deformed into complex shapes depending on the degree of molding swelling and capillarity, thereby producing polymeric microparticles with controlled 3D shapes upon photopolymerization.
